As one phase of the Troy riverfront development work heads toward completion at the Treasure Island Marina building, a contract has been awarded for another piece of the multimillion dollar project. Bruns General Contracting of Tipp City was awarded the $959,274 contract to renovate the Marina building at Treasure Island, located east of North Elm Street along the Great Miami River. The work is scheduled to be done by the end of July including completing a “slight design change” related to structure awning supports, said Patrick Titterington, city service and safety director. The need for change was uncovered during project demolition, causing a delay in the roof work but not any budget overruns.

While the work is being done the city is looking for a new restaurant for the Marina building following the end of the lease between the Tin Roof restaurant and the city early this year. The operators of Tin Roof, which ran the restaurant for more than five years, said in a Facebook posting that the business wasn’t going to wait for the construction. Instead, it went mobile with a food truck. Some prospective operators have toured the facility already, said Stan Kegley, city project manager. The city also “is reviewing how other government entities develop successful lease agreement with private entities.
