The Aurangabad municipal corporation (AMC) has decided to float tenders for its proposed 250-bed multi-speciality hospital in the heart of the city.


Executive engineer and chief of built operate and transfer (BOT) section Sikander Ali said, "We are inviting tenders for the hospital proposed across four acres near Central naka on JNEC road. The last date of application for the bidders will be May 30, 2013," he told TOI on Thursday.

"The new hospital will offer its patients the latest in medical services that will be on a par with any world-class healthcare facility. The AMC is expecting responses from established players in the field of healthcare services," he said, adding that the new hospital would be commissioned within 36 months.

Ali said it would be biggest AMC-run hospital in the city with all modern facilities. "It will have latest medical equipment and specialist doctors. Open heart surgery, ultra-modern pathology lab, blood bank and rehabilitation centre are some of the main features of the proposed hospital," he added.

"We are coming up with the hospital under the BOT model. The private partner will have to invest Rs 100 crore to commission the state-of-the-art facility. The partner will operate the project for 30 years, following which it will be handed over it to the municipal body," he said.

According to the proposed model, the private player (the BOT operator) will pay a one-time non-refundable deposit. "In addition to this, the AMC will get Rs 100 per square meter a month on the total built-up area. The private bidders will propose the model and suggest the built-up area. The property tax on the structure will also come to the AMC`s account," he said.

Though Ali refused to say anything on the treatment charges, Ali said, "Let us first decide the BOT operator, who will in turn finalize it."
