Senvion bags Conditional Deals for 340 MW of Chilean Wind Projects

[Date: 24 Dec 2018 ] Country : Chile

German wind turbine maker Senvion SA it has signed conditional deals to supply equipment to Mainstream Renewable Power for 340 MW of wind projects in Chile. The turbine manufacturer expects the deals to become firm in 2019. As part of the orders, it will deliver, install and commission 37 units of its 4.2M148 turbines for the 155-MW Tchamma wind project and 44 of the 4.2M118 machines for the 264-MW Cerro Tigre wind park, both located in the Antofagasta region in the northern part of Chile. Senvion will also service the 81 turbines under a 20-year full-service contract with an extension option.

Both projects are part of a 1.3-GW wind and solar portfolio awarded to Mainstream in Chile’s energy auction in August 2016. Installation of the wind parks is planned for 2020. More specifically, the Irish developer expects to reach financial close on the schemes early next year and launch commercial operations in 2021. Senvion noted that the order is the largest one for its 4.2M platform and lifts its firm and conditional order intake in Chile to 853 MW.
