The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd has called tenders for the Metro line between Gottigere and Swagat Cross stations, which are part of the Nagawara-Gottigere route (Reach 6 of Phase 2).
The 7.5-km elevated Gottigere to Swagat Cross line has six stations, including the interchange station at Jayadeva Hospital. The plan includes a 13.79-km underground stretch from Dairy Circle to Nagawara. A tender for the underground stretch is yet to be called.
Tenders have been called for the RV Road Interchange-Bommasandra Metro line (Reach 5). The completion of this and the Gottigere-Swagat Cross line will connect JP Nagar 4th Stage, IIMB, Hulimavu and Gottigere areas easing traffic in these areas as well as Bannerghatta Road.
"Metro Phase 1`s North-South Corridor works in the underground section (Sampige Road-National College) were delayed due to technical reasons. We have not been able to provide services between RV College and Yelachanahalli stations though works have been completed. However, the Gottigere-Swagat Cross section will be operationalised regardless of works in the underground section," a BMRCL official said.
The successful bidder will have to build viaducts in the elevated stretch, five stations as well as entrance road, the official said. “We want to complete all the works in Phase 2 by 2020. We are working to meet that deadline," he added.
A depot for Namma Metro will come up on 34 acres in Kothanur. The depot work is part of the same tender.
