HYDERABAD: The state government has relaxed eligibility criteria of tenders for construction of two bedroom houses by allowing licensed GHMC builder for taking up the 2BHK houses in Greater Hyderabad limits.
The 2 BHK housing scheme is one of the important flagship programme of the state government. Though the GHMC floated tenders a few months ago, bidders did not show any interest in the housing scheme due to various reasons.
In the light of poor response to the scheme, GHMC commissioner B Janardhan Reddy had written a letter to the state government last month requesting for relaxation of eligibility criteria for floating tenders.
Following the request the state government has decided to permit GHMC licence builder to participate in the tenders.
The GHMC licence builders have to submit self-declaration for the value of existing commitments and ongoing works to be completed during the period of completion of works for which tenders are invited on `100 non-judicial stamp papers.
It may be mentioned that GHMC invited bids in two stages in August and September for as many as 4,986 (out of 5,050) dwelling units in 18 locations.
This includes infrastructure works in first phase at an estimated cost of `428 crore, but the response was very poor.
Further, in the second phase, GHMC sought administrative sanction for construction of 15,519 dwelling units costing about `1,298 crore in 32 locations with G+3, S+5 and C+S+9 pattern, GHMC is awaiting for the orders from the government.
As per the directions of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, GHMC proposes to take up 1,08,560 two BHK houses in various parts of Greater Hyderabad limits, GHMC officials said.
