Mumbai: The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has invited e-tenders to design and construct a flyover at Mumbra bypass junction on NH-4. It has also invited tenders for widening of existing road under the extended Mumbai Urban Infrastructure Project (MUIP).
This project would help in segregating highway traffic from the local traffic. The estimated cost for constructing this flyover is Rs 57 crore. The Mumbra flyover would consist of a 540-meter long and 24-meter wide 3 plus 3-lane flyover, which would be constructed from Atlanta Toll Naka to Bharat Gear Company in Mumbra. The existing 30-meter wide road running along the proposed flyover alignment will also be widened to 60 meters under the project.
“There is heavy traffic on the existing Mumbra bypass especially to and fro JNPT-Hyderabad-Ahmedabad. Mumbra which is connected to industrial areas, is crowded and causes traffic jams and road rages”.
“The new flyover and widening of existing road at Mumbra Bypass Junction would help get rid of the traffic congestion during peak hours and also reduce travel time”, said Dilip Kawathkar, Joint Project Director (PR), MMRDA. The last date of submitting the tender documents is August 15, 2016.
