EDF Renewable Energy (EDF RE), a subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles, has commissioned two U.S. wind farms totaling 400 MW. A company, the 250 MW Roosevelt wind project, located within New Mexico`s Roosevelt County, reached commercial operations. The project, situated roughly 18 miles southwest of Portales, commenced construction of 125 Vestas 2 MW turbines in January 2015. Xcel Energy subsidiary Southwestern Public Service Co. will purchase the electricity generated pursuant to a 20-year, fixed-price power purchase agreement (PPA). Executive Vice President of EDF RE, notes that this project is the company’s “first facility in the business-friendly state of New Mexico. EDF RE has also commissioned the 150 MW Slate Creek wind plant in Kansas.
